Why do we do liposuction?

Certain areas of the body (such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, neck, chin, arms and back) need to reshape their fatty areas, and diet and exercise are usually recommended. But sometimes these areas do not respond adequately. Here comes the role of liposuction to reshape these areas.

Although the results of liposuction are long-term, it is not considered in any way to lose weight.

There are also medical conditions that require liposuction treatment:

• Benign fatty tumors (lipomas).
• Abnormal enlargement of the breasts in males (gynecomastia).
• Problems with the metabolism of fats in the body (lipodystrophy).
• Excessive sweating in the armpit area (axillary hyperhidrosis).

Liposuction aims to get rid of unwanted fat from specific areas of the body, using fine tubes with sharp tips, which are inserted through small surgical incisions in the skin. With an electric suction attached to it, the fat is suctioned while the doctor moves the tubes under the skin, to break up the fatty deposits.

Who needs liposuction?

The need for liposuction is limited to healthy, stable weight patients who suffer from complex fat that does not respond to a healthy diet or exercise.

Therefore, this process is not suitable for those who want to lose weight

What techniques are used for liposuction?

At MK, we use the safest, most comfortable and least painful method for the patient. Ultrasound technology (VASER) is one of the techniques mainly used by us, and it is the latest technology in this field.

This technique uses ultrasound to break up fat and facilitate its removal, and is known to be completely safe, with minimal side effects after the operation..

How is liposuction performed?

• Usually at MK we perform the operation under general anesthesia. An epidural anesthetic can be used for liposuction in the lower parts of the body.
• After the MK surgeon determines the areas in which the fat must be removed, he proceeds to the following procedures:
• Injecting the treated area with a solution containing anesthetic and medications, to reduce bruising, blood loss and swelling.
• The breakdown of fat cells in the treated area with high-frequency vibrations, to facilitate pulling them out.
• Making a small incision to insert the suction tube connected to the vacuum machine, to start the fat removal process.
• Moving the suction tube reciprocatingly, to loosen the fat and suck it out of the body.
• Suture and bandage the treated area until it recovers.

The operation at MK usually takes one to three hours. Most people need to stay in the hospital overnight, on the day of the operation.

What happens during recovery?

After the procedure is completed, the patient wears an elastic supportive corset or compression bandages to reduce swelling and bruising, while continuing to wear it until complete recovery.

Antibiotics and painkillers are prescribed by the attending physician, to prevent infections and any pain or swelling.

The recovery period usually takes two to three weeks, after the procedure.

Butt augmentation (Brazilian butt lift)

Buttock augmentation provides women with an attractive proportional shape that gives them self-confidence and the ability to wear the clothes they like.

It is a surgical cosmetic procedure that increases the size of the buttocks, using fat transfer technology or butt implants. It includes reshaping, tightening and transfer of fat to the buttock area.

Brazilian butt lift (fat transfer to the buttocks)

This method relies on transferring fat by suctioning it from one area of the body to be used to improve the shape of the buttocks. It is an ideal treatment to enhance the appearance of a saggy butt after losing weight.

How is the Brazilian butt lift operation performed?

• The doctor removes fatty tissue from one of the areas of the body that suffers from excess fat, (such as the abdomen, hips, back or thighs) by suctioning it through suction tubes (cannula).
• After that, the fat is processed and prepared for the transfer process, and then it is re-injected into the buttocks.
• The surgeon usually needs to make three small incisions to inject the fat, which disappears (by 90%) after the recovery period.
• The doctor then transfers the fat through the incisions, and moves the cannula in a frequency manner to ensure a consistent distribution of fat and to obtain optimal results.
• The liposuction incisions are closed with threads. The patient then needs to wear a (compression gown) after surgery.

Butt lift with silicone implants

Silicone implants are suitable for people with flat or saggy buttocks. It is used to redefine the buttocks and give it extra volume

How is the butt lift with silicone implants?

• The doctor inserts a soft silicone implant, through the incision that is naturally hidden in the folds of the bottom of the gluteus maximus muscle, and above the pelvic bone.
• The incisions are closed with stitches, so that the patient wears a (compressive gown) after the operation.
